Answers to common boiler & hydronic heating questions.
A condensing boiler is mainly used for home heating and may work with a separate indirect water heater. A combi boiler provides both home heating and domestic hot water in one unit. ProD assesses your home’s heating and hot-water needs, available space, and system design to recommend the most suitable option.
Sometimes. If your existing hydronic system—including piping, pumps, controls, and radiators, radiant floors, or baseboards—is suitable for the new boiler, much of it may be retained. ProD will assess the existing system before recommending any necessary changes.
Possibly, but it may not be a simple one-for-one replacement. ProD will assess the whole-home heating load, existing hydronic system, electrical capacity, and backup heating needs. If there is no suitable existing ductwork, a multi-split heat pump may be considered instead of a central system. The final solution will be based on the home’s overall heating requirements and existing conditions.
Hydronic heating uses heated water circulated through radiant floors, radiators, or hydronic baseboards to heat your home. The boiler, piping, pumps, controls, and heat emitters work together as one complete heating system.
No. A combi boiler must be properly sized for both the home’s heating load and domestic hot-water demand. ProD considers hot-water usage, such as showers, bathrooms, and kitchen use, as well as available space and the existing system before recommending a combi boiler or another suitable solution.
A boiler heats and circulates water for home heating through radiant floors, radiators, or hydronic baseboards. A water heater primarily provides domestic hot water for showers, bathrooms, and kitchen use. A combi boiler can provide both functions, depending on the home’s heating and hot-water needs.
