Answers to common electrical services questions.
A panel upgrade replaces or modifies the home’s electrical panel, while a service upgrade increases the electrical capacity supplied to the home. A panel upgrade does not automatically increase service capacity. ProD’s licensed technical partner will assess the existing electrical system and confirm any required upgrades, permits, and utility coordination.
No. An EV charger does not always require a service upgrade. ProD’s licensed technical partner will assess the existing electrical service, panel capacity, total load, and charger requirements. Where suitable, a load-management solution such as a DCC may help avoid a service upgrade.
A DCC is a smart load-management system that monitors the home’s electrical demand and gives priority to household use. When sufficient capacity is available, it allows EV charging; when demand is high, it can reduce or pause charging. Where suitable, a DCC may help avoid an electrical service upgrade for an EV charger.
No. A DCC helps manage the home’s available electrical capacity but does not increase the home’s electrical capacity. ProD’s licensed technical partner will assess the home’s electrical load and EV charger requirements to determine whether a DCC can help avoid a service upgrade.
Possibly. Approval, parking ownership or assignment, electrical routing, common property, load management, metering and building rules must be confirmed before installation.
It depends on the existing electrical panel, available capacity, and total home load. ProD’s licensed technical partner will assess the electrical requirements for the proposed heat pump and determine whether an upgrade is necessary. Any required permits and inspections will also be confirmed as part of the project.
